場所について英語で話すとき、使われる前置詞は
『at, in, on』がありますが、どれを使えば良いか迷いますよね。
場所を表す際の『at, in, on』の使い分けには、シンプルなルールがあります。
下記をご覧ください。
①at
『at』は、特定の場所に使います。
イメージとしては『地図上にピンを指せる場所』です。
『at a super market』, 『at Shinjuku Station』, 『at home』など
『I am at the office now.』（今オフィスにいます。）
『I am at a traffic light.』（信号にいます。）
『I am at the park with my dog.』（犬と一緒に公園にいます。）
②in
『in』は国、街、エリアなどの広い範囲の場所に使います。
イメージは、『地図上で特定の場所にピンを指せない場所』です。
また、地図上でピンが指せる場所の場合でも、
建物の『中にいる』という場合は『in』を使います。
『in Japan』『in the city』『in Tama area』『in the building』
『She lives in Kokubunji city.』（彼女は国分寺市に住んでいます。）
『I am in the cafe now.』（今カフェの中にいます。）
『My mom is in the red car.』（私の母は赤い車の中にいます。）
③on
『on』は何かの上にいたり、触れている状態です。
『on the 5th floor』『on the train』『on the desk』
『A ball is on the roof.』（ボールが屋根の上にあります。）
『Many cars are on the bridge.』（たくさんの車が橋の上にいます。）
＝練習＝
『I left my phone on the desk in the room on the 5th floor in the Hilton Hotel .』
（ヒルトンホテルの５階の部屋のテーブルの上に携帯を置いてきてしまいました。）
『The school is at 4chome on the main street in Kokubunji-city.』
（学校は国分寺市のメイン通りの４丁目にあります。）
『On every train at the front of every car, there is a fire extinguisher in a red box.』
（全ての列車の１番目の車両には、赤いボックスの中に消火器があります。）
『at, in, on』は時間を表す際にも使える前置詞です。
